The photographic enthusiast likes to lure us into a darkened room in order to display his slides on a silver screen. Baby Lea at 6 weeks old. I am so absolutely crazy about her! We all are. But she ain’t so easy :) she has an intense personality. She knows what she wants and what she doesn’t want and she wants to make sure everyone else knows that as well. Sometimes she is just having one of those days and there is nothing we can do but love her. She sleeps so well during the nights and is very active during the days. When she is happy, she is so utterly angelic.

Little cuddler | Four weeks old

Baby Lea will be four weeks old tomorrow. She is looking more unique with each passing day. At just under four weeks she weights 4000g (or 8 lbs and 13.09 ozs), after all she is likely eating well now. We see the transition each week though, from having a baby that is calm and quite and feeding well, to one that is more active, harder to comfort and often crying, she demands more attention and needs more cuddles and calming down. She is such a little cuddler!

I'm slowly catching up with my 52 weeks project. Slowly I said :) Today I'm sharing my photos for a week eight and nine which were the two weeks after baby Lea was born.

Adrian has been obsessed with the Harry Potter movies for some time, with each passing film the addiction increased and he even began to read the book! One day I went to pick him up to school and he had Harry Potter's scar drawn on the forehead with a black marker! Too bad I did not manage to take a picture.

And his another time killer! :)

Baby Lea is already two weeks old. She is just precious! I love watching her sleep. While dreaming, she makes the cutest facial expressions, as well as little squeaks and grunts and groans. She will grimace and do all kinds of strange things while she is in what is called the stage of dreaming sleep or active sleep. During this stage she makes such a funny faces :) watching her sleep has become one of my favorite past times. I just love seeing her make faces, from little smiles to frowns, and fluttering eyes to twitches. Even it may seems funny, it's a good thing, during this stage of sleep a lot of synapses are being formed in newborn's brain, getting her ready to learn! The face of a sleeping baby is always cute and very expressive! Second after second...

As some of you may known, my "little" sister recently had a baby. My niece being born is of course a BIG deal to me and to our family. We were blessed that she is healthy, despite being born a bit early (even she lost some weight and bilirubin is high). The last few months have been very exiting to all of us. Now, we are more than happy! And more than busy! :)

Please excuse my absence, I took tons of photos, I also have some pictures for the project, but the editing and posting will have to wait awhile.

I need to keep a close eye on my niece, so I better get going!

He still has some little scabs on his face and body but I managed to get rid of them :) at least I hope so.
He was so happy and ready to go to school tomorrow, unfortunately the school will be closed for two days because of the flu going around.

My little man caught chicken pox from school, so this week did not start very good. We found it out on Monday and on the Wednesday he was all covered with poxs red marks on his body. Had no fever at all, only that itching. Thursday and Friday was awful he would barely move. Red dots changed into little blisters. But yesterday (Saturday) the spots had started fading and scabing over and he is definitely feeling better today, much more his nomal self. I hope that the scabs will come off quickly.
I didn't want to bother him too much with photographing and he wasn't happy with it either, so here are only few snaps.

In the winter the sky is usually grey. The more we enjoy, when the sun comes out. I love the sun, whether in the cold winter or hot summer. The light and the colors of the sun's rays are amazing, so beautiful. They can brighten every dark place, every sad face. Suddenly everything becomes nicer, brighter and more colorful. I like going out for a walk when everything has been blanketed in snow. Having my cheeks get rosy and tingle from the cold while every other body part is bundled up and warm. I like the sight of snow covered trees and houses, the sight of the sky through bare tree branches, the sound of fresh snow crunching under my feet. But most of all I love the sun's rays!

Have you ever had those days when you are just too lazy to grab the camera and snap some shots? I think I'm just getting something like that... I'm posting lots of archive photos and still have lots to edit. I tend to shoot many photos of one moment and then I spend hours in front of the screen editing and you all know how tiring it can be...

I think a little photo project would keep me going and at the same time I could improve my technique and make me think more ahead. I personally prefer more random approach and take what life throws at me each day, but also think of one photo taken of my little boy, each week for 52 weeks…

While I was searching for some ideas, I got to these:

- I’m going to do my best to take at least one photo a week of my son, and upload (blog) it weekly (monthly?)[not really sure yet] in one single blog post. This is gonna be my goal :)

- If I take a bad photo, I won’t beat myself up about it.

I don't think I have time for a full 365 (photo a day) project so I will be doing weekly 52 project. This will still keep me in the game.

Anyone would like to join me? Lets see how long I stick to this :) and what the next week will bring.

We haven't had snow here in a while, actually (since last year :), the entire November was dry, quite warm and without snow. But now, it is definitely winter – we have about 10 cm (3.9 in) of snow. The temperatures right now is -8°C (17.6F) and it's so freezing during the days and nights.

This is how it looks like when I take photographs of all those weeds :) and where I shoot (I get quite a lot of questions) the final image + a short video, not a height quality video plus as you can see, it was quite windy (very hard to focus) and I had my hands freezing to the bone. (forgive me, but I hope, those who are interested will have a little idea)

I remember a few years ago about this time we had a lot of snow and it was freezing cold outside. This year some trees are still in their autumn beauty.

Autumn can be a very enjoyable time of year with so many changes to look out for. But another reason that we can look forward to the next couple of weeks is because half-term is coming up.

Remember when you were a child? I was looking forward to half-term. It’s hard work starting a new year at school. There are new classes, new people, new lessons – it’s a lot for our brains to take in, and we all get tired. That’s why we look forward to having a break. People talk about recharging their batteries, it does us good to have a rest.

But not for Adrian. He was not happy at all, he wanted to go to school despite the holidays and was really sad that he could not meet his friends.
And now when the holiday ended, Adrian got a cold. Well, i hope for a quick recovery.

Adrian started to take karate classes and he loves it!

Yep :) Adrian lost his first milk tooth last Tuesday. And that first tooth had to be extracted by dentist :( that big kid tooth was already pushing its way through. Adrian was very brave even though he was feared to death (me too). Now he looks like a real kid! (so funny)... he does and it breaks my heart a little...

In September Adrian began to attend the class for intellectually gifted children with a special alternative education program Aprogen, one of its kind in Slovakia and surrounding countries.

Pupils are in classes assigned on the basis of psychological tests to pass on the Pedagogical Psychological Center, part of the selection of students into classes for Gifted children are well developed knowledge tests of reading, writing and arithmetic. There is a maximum of 12 pupils in the 1st stage.

Part of the educational process are the early community. Their task is to prepare children for learning, open them to receive information on the administration of optimal performance, tune in to cool the working atmosphere, degraded minor problems, conflicts between the children and any stress . Above-average education of intellectually gifted children has its own characteristics. They are used all methods to promote and develop logical thinking, analytical and synthetic thinking, problem solving reasoning, creative thinking. The students enter the open, unfinished, incomplete assignments, which do not have only one solution, but rather have multiple solutions. Since the first class is continually teaching English language, computer science and have a special lesson of Enrichment. Part of graduation each year is to develop the Coursework, where they can choose a topic based on their interests and knowledge.

Quite often I am facing different opinions on these children and their mode of teaching. Some parents will say they think their child is bright, or smart, but not 'gifted'. Parents often have unrealistic ideas of what giftedness means. A child does not have to be a mini Einstein. Most parents are afraid of the gifted label because of the expectations. Unfortunately, some parents believe their child will be a happier person if she/he is average, or slightly above average. What happens if gifted children don't get appropriate education? They are at-risk, for boredom, frustration, underachievement, or they simply sink to the level of average classmates and never reach their full potential. Because gifted children want to be able to learn at their own speed, not someone else's, skip over work they already know and understand, study things of interest beyond basic school work, and work with abstract concepts that require more than simple thinking.

Adrian loves his school, his class, his new friends and I'm so happy and proud of it. He is kind of Perfectionist. He wants to read perfectly, to spell perfectly, but nevertheless, it's still "just" a kid with his own mischief :)

Let me introduce you my latest acquisition. It is a solid and heavy SLR camera made in Russia. Zenit 11.

I found it in my parents' house, hidden among the pile of junk. It seems to be in perfect working condition. My dad kept and loved this camera for many years... this has history!

Since it is TTL, you can have a depth-of-field preview while taking on/or before the shot. The lens cap also comes in metal, another lovely way to avoid your lens for fungal growth or direct heat from the sun. This camera can take beautiful shots, much like it can be compared to any other SLR cameras made by Japan and other countries. You select the film speed, then correlate the lines of aperture and shutter speed in the dial. You don’t have to lift the dial or do something, just simply turn it, and the rest follows. If the metal wire is aligned with the circular cap that can be seen in the upper left part of the camera, then it is a correct exposure. You can now check the correlation of the f-stops and shutter speed and apply it to the camera before taking a picture.

Specifications: 35mm Single Lens Reflex (SLR) camera, metal body, interchangeable lenses using M42 Pentax thread, shutter speeds: 1/30s to 1/500s, light meter, tripod mounting point, hot-shoe flash connector, requires 35mm film, produces 24mm x 36mm frames, 36 frames to a standard roll.

The air is getting a feel that summer slowly comes to the end... nights are cooler and days shorter. I tried to enjoy the last moments of this summer. I love these late summer evenings, beautiful colors in the sky and the last warm ray of the sun...

I so needed this!

This place was so quiet. Peaceful and quiet. Birds flew in complete freedom, with their wings wide open. So silently. The only sound you could hear was their singing and water splashing in the stream, just sit and watch. There was no need to hide and be afraid in this place of complete freedom.

A delightful place for nature lovers.

It really does put you in a different frame of mind. What is horrible is when you do go to a peaceful place and your mind makes it difficult to enjoy it. It is that saying..."wherever you go, there you are." Or some such thing. I know I am at my anxious worst when I am in a wonderful place of nature and I cannot get my mind to stop and enjoy it. Not this time :)

I had a wonderful day with my sister and friend, well spent, so very enjoyable and so much fun!

Welcome to the circus

We went to the CIRCUS and want to share our experience with you!

Oh my!!! I though I seemed like too old to be excited about circus, but I still am one big circus fan!!! So much fun!!! And I STRONGLY DISAGREE that circus are for kids alone... and I disagree that in each Circus are animals forced to perform tricks and are treated poorly. Not in this one at all! Every day we watched the circus life, everyday life, feeding animals, games, fun ... we went to the circus menagerie and observed animal. I've never seen an animal that was treated poorly there. I can not say a single bad work on Circus ALEŠ. So it certainly depends on which Circus you visit. Just don't throw all the circuses in one pile.

When I was very young, my heart did leap with joy when a circus had to come to town. Being curious, I did run to the place where they made camp. I did watch them putting up the Big-Top and also the cages where the animals were kept. Seeing the keepers feed the animals was also fun to watch. I couldn't miss this now!

Circus ALEŠ was founded around the year of 1880 by Jan Aleš, brother of famous Czech painter Mikoláš Aleš. With his traveling variety show they ran mainly in Bavaria, where the roots of Aleš family goes.

Horse riding - skill competition

During the break visitors can refresh themselves in a buffet circus, buy circus souvenirs for smallest children, ride ponies, or be photographed with a snake or a camel in the Sahara. The break was followed by bison dressage, clowns and rotating plates by Poncho, unfortunately I did not take any photo, because I did at that time video recording. I will definitely upload it as soon as find how. :)

Since I love horses and always have, the horses were my absolute favorite part of any circus.

And after a beautiful and challenging two-hour performances Circus ALEŠ is at the end.

A visit to the circus menagerie ALEŠ is a welcome treat for kids and nice distraction for adults.

More about Circus ALEŠ

For over 120 years Aleš's family built modern circus company, which does belong to the best Czech circus tradition. Circus hosted several years abroad in various European countries in recent years, operating mainly in Slovakia and became one of the most popular circus.

In addition of the revised two-hour program is the large and diverse menagerie. Today, circus ALEŠ is leading by the fifth-generation of Aleš's family, which is robustly seconded by sixth generation. The circus owner is Mr. Antonín Aleš (Anthony Ales) with his wife Hana née Faltýnkova, which also comes from a well-known artistic family.

The seventh generation is Antonín Aleš Jnr. and Hanka Alešová Jnr. with her husband Luke Láník. Antonín Aleš Jnr. deals with exotic animals, dressage, acrobatics, but also works as a clown. Hanka Alešová-Lániková is airy acrobat and horses dresser, ponies and dogs. Lukaš Láník comes from a famous circus family, from his childhood he is a particularly versatile acrobat known as the Persian bars acrobat, juggler and jumper.

The eight generation represents Hanka's and Lukaš's son Vojtech Láník and he will soon start to learn family craft.

Circus ALEŠ was already a Soviet-era one of the few circuses in the former of Czechoslovakia, which operated as private businesses. Previously operated under the name "Circus Barlay".

This is the underpass under the railway station through which we go to the swimming pool. Every Saturday. These days it is more often of course and in these hot summer days it's like a balm to the soul, because there is a nice cool air :)
Many times I had the urge to carry the camera with me, but somehow I was too lazy. I just always watch all those shadows and lights coming from the outside. Recently when we went to swim, I finally took it with me and made a few shots. I was surprised how hard it is to take photos in such a dark place without an external flash. Because I wanted a real natural shot, with all dark places and shadows and light coming from outside. So difficult to expose correctly!
I do not know whether I did right :) but the result with small adjustments looks quite good to me (except of sharpening, it could be more sharp thought). I will definitely try it again, sometimes. Here I added a texture, took the reds out and cover the whole image with a milky overlay to soften the contrast.

Adventurous and mischievous little girl was scampering around giggling and looking at everything but not me. She had such a power to entertain. I only hardly managed to catch her, she's such a speedy :) but totally adorable.

I think it's about a time to update my blog. I don't know what's happened with my design, the other day I had a look and the whole page was messed up. And a new button "Design" appeared in the right above corner. I don't know if it has something to do with it. And, as on purpose, I could not find my HTML code. So I had to fix it , I quickly made a new one, just completely simple.

I decided to blog this "photo session" with my 6 year old. He loves Pokemons. He remembers them all by heart. Sometimes I have to make him turn off the TV, because he would watch it all day. He often acts out his own stories with his toys or draws pictures and I have to cut them out :) it drives me absolutely nuts! Sometimes it's a great fun to watch him. Well, look at his creations.

Hope that she will return back soon so we can do some more. She is terribly ease to photograph, natural and beautiful, she doesn't protest and doesn't run away from the camera :) even sometimes she looks pretty shy.

A lazy day and a funny photo shoot

Few days ago I've done a little photo shoot with myself :))) a terrible taste to shoot something came into my mind in a second and I had nothing better by hand then myself.

I finally decided to share these photos with you :)
One moment I think they are fine, but after a while I think they are terrible. And it sure has much to do with me posing :))) if I can say posing :D I am not very happy to be in front of the camera. When I take pictures, I can conjure the worsted postures and expressions :) sometimes it looks really funny with hunched back and grimace on the face... I look funny. Well, what would the photographer give for a good photo? All this because I love what I do.

These are mirrored and backlit, taken in the bedroom. I love the wonderful natural light there - nothing new :)
I know the quality is not perfect, but I like them as they are. They are simple and what's the most important they are natural. And so am I! :)

I only made some selfies and then suddenly I hear a sort of strange noises coming from behind the corner. I knew the shooting is over :)

It made me think, should I stay and take some snapshots, or should I run? :)

No, I am not afraid of you! I will wait! And so I got a chance shoot us both together, what does not happen very often :)

A morning glory at my window

I love waking up to the sunny days, bathed in the delights of sunlight.

... when there's a new morning dew, night time is done. The birds are all singing, the flowers are blooming. I stare out the window at the first morning light, feeling free as a bird ready to take flight.

I discovered these beautiful fragrant flowers last Sunday when I went for a walk. Several of them ended in my home. I love their fragrance so much! They are still in full bloom, but I will hang them upside down and let them dry. Chamomile tea has a reputation of being a soothing and calming drink. I love chamomile tea with honey and a little lemon juice.

I really did enjoy to take pictures of them, I put them on the old window parapet. Love the wonderful backlight there. I even managed to get some lovely piggies - flare - my favorite thing. At the end I processed each photo with an old vintage texture to get that vintage romatic look.

Also, these flowers has inspired me and given a new look to my blog. Yay! :)

When I was a kid, we played outside with the other kids in the neighborhood with most of our free time. We kept ourselves quite occupied without any of today’s modern technologies.

Kids love playgrounds! Playgrounds are fun places because there's so much to do and other kids to have fun with. It is also a place where children can make friends, they learn to get along with other kids, learn to share and take turns...
Sure kids love the obvious things about the playground—hanging upside down, swinging feet-to-the-sky on the swings :)kid just has to be a kid.
And we parents love watching them play and feel the sense of childhood delight.

I have terribly many pictures from the last trip to the playground (sorry if I overload). Adrian's best fun is, as I already mentioned - hanging upside down. And if the head touches the ground, then better :)

Something for something

At the moment he is my only model I have :) and I have to do my best to use it. Sometimes I have to force him to pose (not in the true sense), but a small reward in the end is always something to speak for. What would give each photographer for a direct look into the camera or at least a moment while he set the correct parameters and focus? I'm trying really hard, although many times without success. But most important now is to persuade him to stay still at least a little while at one place and not run away.

Yesterday I was searching the older photo folders, because I was looking for one picture. To my surprise, I found something completely different. Photo session which I did time ago with my sister and her best friend. I could not believe my eyes that I almost completely forgot about it. So I immediately put my hands on them.

These girls are really crazy when they are together. Like small kids :)

Sure, sometimes you wake up without plans and want to stay in your pyjamas all morning. Yes, once in a while, once in a moment, maybe just once a year (or a week?), it’s fun to have a super lazy morning, have a peaceful and relaxing morning in some warm and comfy clothes. I think I'm not going to stay in my pajamas and do nothing all day but it's nice to have a break and fun all morning :)

My son is 6 and he likes to stay in his PJ all morning, when he does not have to go to school. He likes to play and even enjoy his breakfast - cereals with milk, the only thing he will eat in the morning. Oh, how I love these lazy mornings!
I'm ready with camera capture all those precious moments!

There's always a place to explore

Kids love the outdoors. With so much to explore, this is a great option for a fun kid’s activity. There are plenty of things you can do such as leave finding, bird watching, stone collecting... or like in this photo - squirrel watching :)
The possibilities are endless and all it takes are little imaginations going to work to come up with some fun ideas. The idea is to get them out there in nature where they can explore, have fun and get their exercise all at the same time.

There's not many things you can do while traveling. Certainly not when traveling in a car and with a child. Every game will quickly get boring and thinking of the new ones is becoming more and more difficult.
Car counting ... searching for color ... game of words ... nothing will last longer then couple of minutes...

Well, it's time to pray that my little one will fall asleep soon :)

While traveling I keep some books or magazines with me so I can read it, whenever I feel like or I listen to some good music on i-pod. But the same as for my son it doesn't last long and I'm boring again. Fortunately, I carry my passion with me wherever I go! And because the weather is not very pleasant I decide to take some blurry bokehlicious shots!

A day out

We had such a nice weekend! We went for a long walk along the city. All alone in vast empty space, but not entirely alone. The air was filled with sounds: birds singing, the wind in the trees...
We enjoyed our own company and especially walking along the fields and forests, seeing all the animals, the land, the sky, the sun...

Spring is in action! I went for a walk and saw lots of buds on trees, and at least a couple in full flower. I can't wait to get out again and take some more spring shots!

We've decided a few months ago that we wanted to get a new pet and what's better than a budgie :) she's so small, chubby and cute :)

.. and this was the first time I have managed to capture her!

I can remember a time when every budgie I looked at seemed to be a special, and totally random, mix of colors. I love how colorful they are!
You can hardly find two budgie's of exactly the same shade and it's so hard to choose only one. I would love to have one of each :)
